Veterinary Terminology

Veterinary terminology is a branch of medical terminology particularly pertinent to the animal
world and veterinary medicine. This course will provide the key to unlocking a whole new
world of knowledge that will empower you to communicate on a highly technical level about
animal medical disorders, disease processes, surgical procedures, and treatments. You will learn
terminology that will allow you to read and interpret language in reports, patient charts,
husbandry, and other animal health care environments.

This course is intended primarily for those students with a solid background in the biological
sciences that need an in depth foundation in veterinary terminology and a comprehensive review
of animal systems. It forms the ideal foundation for students intent on a career as a veterinarian,
veterinary laboratory technician, or in a veterinary office, clinic, or hospital. This class will
provide you with the skills you need to become an effective communicator in the highly
technical world of veterinary medicine.

No text book purchase is required. Online references have been provided. The student is
expected to read all 23 lessons, and take the associated quizzes and exams. In addition, there are
assignments and interactive crossword puzzles to get the most benefit from this course.

Grading Policy

A = 100 - 90
B = 89 - 80
C = 79 - 70
D = 69 - 60
F = 59 - Below

Students have the opportunity to purchase certificates upon successful


completion of the course.

This course is worth 5 Continuing Education Units (5 CEUs)

• A score of 90% and above entitles the student to purchase a Certificate of Academic
Excellence
• A score of 80-89% entitles the student to purchase a Certificate of Merit
• A score of 75% entitles the student to purchase a Certificate of Appreciation

Certificates cost $25 and can be purchased after completion of the course.
