HUNTERSVILLE, NC: On Monday, September 19, 2011 at 8:45pm Huntersville Police were dispatched to the area of 14601 Statesville Road in reference to two pedestrians that were struck by a vehicle. According to witnesses on scene, it appears that a Ford Mustang was traveling northbound on Statesville Rd. and struck two female pedestrians as they were crossing the road walking toward Deer Hill II Apartments. The pedestrians have been identified as Veronica Dukes, B/F, age 51 and Tashunda Dukes, B/F, age 18. The driver of the vehicle was on scene when officers arrived. Both pedestrians were transported to CMC Main with serious injuries. The Huntersville Police Departments Traffic Safety Section is continuing their investigation.
