Comp 102-104 31 August 2011 The Right of Death Jack Kevorkian wrote of his experience of a medically induced death in A Case of Assisted Suicide. Kevorkians assistance of Janet Adkins suicide was justifiable because he worked through all the lawful and ethical procedures. Controversial the subject may be, new ideas that scare people are, Kevorkian did nothing wrong. One might argue that it wasnt proper and ethical to do the procedure in a rusty old van but Kevorkian did try every other possible door before finally settling for the final location. I inquired countless motels, funeral homes, churches of various denominations, rental office buildings, clinics, doctor offices for lease (319) Sometimes what we want or what would be ideal is not possible under circumstances. Kevorkian made sure that Mrs. Adkins what mentally stable to make the decision herself. I constantly observed Janets behavior and assed her moods as well as the content and quality of her thoughts. (321) He also made sure that everything was done on a very professional level. I was fairly sure the remainder was enough to induce adequate unconsciousness, but I chose not to take the risk. (322) Kevorkian was professional and careful about the procedure always striving to help to the last breath.
