This notification will serve to inform that a full-time career opportunity exists at Global Edmonton, a division of Shaw Media. The successful candidate will be a proven journalist with strong on-air skills. He/she will work in a competitive news market with a motivated team whose newscasts are targeted at viewers in the 25-54 demographic. Applicants will have a diploma/degree in Journalism and at least 5 years experience anchoring news in a medium or large market. The successful applicant will anchor News Hour Final and be part of the whole Global News team that produces morning, evening and late weekday casts, weekend news, and specials. The following is a paraphrase of the primary qualifications and does not outline all of the duties and responsibilities for this position: Present news with a high degree of competence and clarity Possess strong communication and interviewing skills Develop and sustain audience rapport over the course of the full newscast The ability to create a wide range of news and current affairs content for a multi-faceted digital news operation The ability to write/produce web, text and social-media versions of news stories. Working knowledge of new media tools and technologies such as Twitter, Facebook and other related applications Must be able to adapt in a rapidly changing media and technology landscape Help lead the Edmonton news teams by example through positive motivation and mentoring
