    Great Lakes Hybrids uses doubled-haploid breeding technology to produce pure parent lines in one year, much faster than using conventional methods over three to five years. This allows for accelerated gains in corn yield and profitability for growers through faster access to new lines. The technology also enhances "forward breeding" by allowing hybrids to be bred with new traits without locking up germplasm resources and by developing trait stacks without negative side effects. Over the past decade, Great Lakes Hybrids' doubled-haploid program has grown significantly, developing over 56,000 doubled-haploid lines by 2004 and using the process for almost all product development by 2009-2010.
