EXPERIMENTAL METHOD 3.0 Unit Design 3.

1 Unit Construction Apparatus of the experiment is shown below:

a) Measuring chamber b) Pressure chamber c) Vacuum pump d) Heater e) Hydraulic oil f) Digital sensor

3.2 General Start-up Procedure 1. Verify power connections. 2. Check that all control panel switches (Sensor Switch, Heater Switch) are turned on. 3. Check that the pump connection. 4. Turn the Sensor Switch to on.

3.3 Experiment Procedures Boyles law a) The digital sensor which shows the reading of temperature and pressure was turn on. b) The valve then opened to make sure there is no compressed air in the connection from previous usage. c) After all the air had been released, turn off the valve. d) The initial level of oil is recorded. e) The vacuum pump was turn on a few second by using suction mode. f) It let to reach the pressure about -0.8bar. g) The vacuum pump is turn off. h) The valve for the oil flow is turned on. i) The pressure different between the front chamber with higher pressure and the back chamber with lower pressure due to suction forced the oil to flow into the back chamber and reduce the oil level in the front chamber. j) The decrement of hydraulic oil is between 2cm until it reached lower point of the scale where the pressure is equal. k) The reading of temperature and pressure at every decrement were being taken. l) The air valve is released which gave the back chamber the atmospheric pressure that is higher than the front chamber. m) The oil valve then turned on to increase the height of hydraulic oil in the front chamber. n) The increment of hydraulic oil is between 2cm until it reach its initial values. o) The reading of temperature and pressure at every decrement were being taken. Gay lussacs law a) The digital sensor which shows the reading of temperature and pressure was turn on. b) The valve then opened to make sure there is no compressed air in the connection from previous usage. c) The digital temperature controller was set into 800C. d) Wait until the temperature indicators reach the range value of temperature that was set. e) The reading of temperature indicator and pressure then recorded.

f) The experiment step was repeated with temperature controller value of 1000C, 1250C, and 1500C. g) The heater then shut down.

3.3 General Shut-down Procedure 1. Verify that the heater switch is turned off. 2. Turn the pump to off. 3. Verify that all panel switches are off.
