They mostly eat small crustaceans. Habitat & Ecology: Seen at depths as great as 55m. It has been found on gorgonian corals, seagrass, mangroves and Sargassum. This species may be particularly susceptible to decline. Size and Appearance: 17.5 cm from the top of the coronet to the tip of its straightened tail. Has a broad, almost double cheek and the snout is long and thick. The body is narrow, usually without any skin appendages. The colours of a Great Brazilian can be red, saffron, buttercup, ochre or mustard yellow. The body is often decorated with numerous dark spots. Threats: Collected and traded in the Americas as aquarium fish, folk medicine, curiosities and for religious purposes.
