Area of Plane Figures

Plane: Plane is a surface which extends indefinitely in all directions.

For Example: Surfaces of wall, floor and ceiling of a room, table top, a cone
etc.

In practice only a portion of a plane is drawn. Usually a plane is

represented by Rectangle or Parallelogram.

Rectangle: A geometrical figure which has diff. length & breadth and all the
angles are of 90º.

Square: A geometrical figure which has all equal sides and all angles are of
90º.

Cuboids: A cuboid is made up of six rectangular regions i.e. it has 6 faces.

Cube: A cuboid which has equal length, breadth and height.

Area of Plane Figures

The measurement of region bounded by any geometrical figure is called

Area. The measurement units of area are written in unit².
1. Rectangle=l*b unit²
2. Square=a*a unit²
3. Total surface area of cuboids=2(lb+bh+hl) unit²
4. Total surface area of cube=6*l unit²
