The Habib VesOpen catheter is a novel
endovascular radiofrequency (RF) catheter
for vascular remodelling and dilatation of
vascular stenosis. This RF catheter can
be inserted by the interventional radiologist
for benign or malignant cases of vascular
stenosis and occlusion. t aims to open
up areas of vascular stenosis due to
arteriosclerosis or malignant disease. n the
latter RF ablation is designed to destroy any
intravascular tumour thrombosis or vascular
encasement.
The Habib VesOpen has been also used for
clearance of tumour thrombus in portal vein,
clearance of vascular stent (Research phase)
and for renal arteries to cause reduction of
hypertension (Research phase).
The Habib VesOpen consists of two
stainless steel electrodes located at the tip of
the catheter shaft and comes in two different
sizes. The frst is a 3Fr catheter (1mm
diameter/ length of 110cm) and the second
is a 5Fr catheter (1.6mm diameter/length
of 110cm). RF power is applied to the two
electrodes so that heat is applied to the inside
of the vessel.
The Habib VesOpen is introduced using
standard intravascular techniques using a
guide catheter with an internal diameter of
not less than 2.0mm (such as Cordis Vista
Brite Tip 7 Fr) and a guidewire not more than
0.012 for the 3Fr version and 0.014 for the
5Fr.
The Habib VesOpen works with most
standard generators. Please contact
Emcision for further information.
