Its no secret , of course ,that in every profitmaking organization the sales is the thing .No subject occupies the thoughts of top executives so consistently.No question is asked more often by manegement than how are sales ?Even those not directly involed in selling the companys products or services have learned that the answer to that question is critical. When sales are soft over a prolonged period,gloom prevails and sooner or later there are cutbacks in personnel , in cost ,in employee benefits,and in plans for growth .When sales are on the iupswing ,the organization hums with excitement . There are many facets to selling.In many organization ,sales representatives who call on prospects and customers are larely responsible for sales ,and a lot of money is spent in recruiting ,traning , and motivating these people .In such companies ,there are really no effective substitutes for face -to -face ,personal selling.
