Invictus

Nelson Mandela is a former prisoner and he is a newly elected president for his country, South Africa. He comes up with the belief of integrity of all races in South Africa. He strongly believes that he can make a change out of the apartheid issue happening there. Its just not about the racism, but also the economic falls, politics and every aspect of what a president should have taken care of. In another way, Mandela is a big fan of sports, mostly in rugby. This is seen by how big the support Mandela has for his national rugby team, The Springboks. He is a very supportive president, and he finally finds his way to unite all of the South African people together through rugby. This happens during the Rugby World Cup on 1995, which is held on South Africa itself. This is the only way that The Springboks can also compete. In order to achieve his aspiration of uniting the black and white-skinned people together, he almost does anything he can for The Springboks. He catches up on every news about The Springboks, even in the middle of a meeting and on his visit to Taiwan. He comes by himself to wish the team a good luck before the match, and he also invites the captain of the team, Francois Pienaar, to his presidential palace to personally give a lead example, that touches Francoiss conscience. Many doubts and unsure feelings about the goal of The Springboks can win the Rugby World Cup, because The Springboks isnt even qualified to play at an international competition in the first place. Proving all the wrong doubts, and qualified until the final match is also a big achievement for the team. In the end, they have to compete against the well-known winning team, All-Blacks, from New Zealand. With all of the teamwork and also the support of all the South African people, The Springboks wins at the last minute against All-Blacks. And Mandela finally watches all the people in his country are celebrating this winning together, black and white.
