Abstract

Hypertension is one of the cardiovascular diseases that affect the lives of millions

of people around the world. It is also the elevation of the blood pressure, causing the

heart to pump harder.

It can be prevented by having a healthy lifestyle: following a healthy eating

pattern, reducing salt and sodium in diet, maintaining a healthy diet, being physically

active, limiting alcohol intake, and quitting smoking.

Hypertension is commonly experienced by adult patients because it increases with

age. The lifetime risk for hypertension is nearly 90%. A small decrease in the population-

wide average systolic BP would significantly reduce rates of adverse cardiovascular

events.

Early detection and prompt treatment of high blood pressure are the following

treatments in order to remedy hypertension.

The programs needed to be developed and implemented to remedy hypertension

in adults are National High Blood Pressure Education Program Coordinating Committee

of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and American Society of Hypertension

(ASH) which is considered as the largest US organization dedicated exclusively to

hypertension and related cardiovascular diseases.
