A COURSE DESCRIPTION
DIPLOMACY & PRAGMAICS
OF CROSS-CULTURAL COMMUNICATION
Successful diplomatic exchange relies critically on bridging any. gap that
may exist between different cultures. The challenge for dip. lomats or interactants
in international settings at large is to capture. within the context of the source
culture, all meanings inherent in a given message at every discourse level so as
to avoid misunderstandings or misperceptions while interacting with others.
Focussing on the importance of understanding the nature of communicative
mechanisms in a given culture or across cultures, this course will cover the
