The Editor
Sunday Inquirer Magazine

Dear Sir/Madam:

Your article “Beauty according to Vicky Belo”, written by Alya B.

Honasan in the Sunday Inquirer Magazine dated February 4, 2007 has struck my
attention. The country’s most well known cosmetic surgeon and guru of pulchritude talks
about beauty – wanting it, glorifying it, and making it available to anyone who wants it.
Talking about beauty with Dr. Vicky Belo. She is known to have the exquisite and luxury
of lifestyle other the being a surgeon to the stars. The set-up is combination of image
and reality, as Belo admits that many of her trappings have everything to do with her
image. She said that “I realized that all popular girls are pretty, even if they are not nice
or smart, you’re forgiven if you’re beautiful, this world is so unfair and it’s just because of
your luck in the gene pool.”

I strongly agree to the realizations and view points of Dr. Belo, as to

this world is so unfair. As time passes by our vision of real beauty has already changed.
Back when I was a child, I have always heard my sisters and mother saying beauty is
not through what you see through your naked eyes, it is something that is within each
person. But in our generation traditional understandings and beliefs are already
changing. It can be because of the rapid change and development of our mentality.
Curiosity can also be a great factor.

I suggest that this article must be republished and distributed to each

individual for it might save our views of the real beauty. I also suggest that if it is not
really necessary for you to undergo cosmetic/plastic surgery, better be contented of
what you have. It will only give you a temporary contentment. And we can never tell that
it might cause great side effects.

Yours truly,
JULHAMID MASARIK PATARAS JR.
