Coverage of Nurse Licensure Examination

The Philippine Nurse Licensure Examination (PNLE) is a 500-item, multiple choice, 2-day
exam conducted by PRC. The purpose oI NLE is to test the competency oI a nurse.

The PNLE is divided into five (5) EXAM PARTS that contains one hundred (100) questions each.
O Nursing Practice I: Basic Foundation of Nursing and Professional
Nursing Practice (100 items)
O Nursing Practice II: Community Health Nursing and Care of the Mother
and Child (100 items)
O Nursing Practice III: Care of Clients with Physiologic and Psychosocial
Alterations, Part A (100 items)
O Nursing Practice IV: Care of Clients with Physiologic and Psychosocial
Alterations, Part B (100 items)
O Nursing Practice V: Care of Clients with Physiologic and Psychosocial
Alterations, Part C (100 items)
These 5 Exam Parts are based on the Mafor Subfects mentioned below
O undamentals oI Nursing including ProIessional Adjustment
O Maternal and Child Health Nursing
O Community Health and Communicable Disease Nursing
O Nursing oI Adolescents, Adults and Aged
O Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing
PNLE will also test competencies in relation to the eleven (11) KEY AREAS OF
RESPOASIBILI1IES contained in the National Core Competency Standards Ior ilipino
Nurses by the Board oI Nursing (BON). They are:

3. Collaboration and teamwork
4. Health education
5. Legal responsibilities
6. Ethico-moral-spiritual responsibilities
7. Personal and proIessional development
8. Management oI resources and environment
