going to determine the velocity of the toy car. Velocity is calculated by V=td/tt. Do not forget to put a direction on the end of your problems. The direction will be determined by the direction you set up the ramp. Materials Textbook (to be used as a ramp for the car) Toy Car Ruler/Meter Stick Stopwatch or Timer Procedure 1. Set up your textbook as a ramp to be used for the car to travel down. 2. Place your toy car on the edge of the ramp. 3. Push the car off the ramp. 4. Start the stop watch as the car leaves the ramp. 5. Measure the distance the car traveled in cm with a meter stick or ruler. 6. Record the time(s) it takes for the car to make a complete stop in the blanks below. 7. Do 4 trials. Data 1. Record the time(s) it took for the car to stop in the blanks below. Trial 1 ___________ sec Trial 2 ___________ sec Trial 3 _________ sec Trial 4 _________ sec
2. Record the distance(s) the car traveled in the blanks below. Trial 1 ___________ cm Trial 2 ___________ cm Trial 3 __________ cm Trial 4 __________ cm
3. Find the velocity of the car for each trial. Place your answer in the blank(s) below. Use the formula below to help you. V= td/tt (add direction) Trial 1 __________ cm/sec Trial 2 __________ cm/sec Trial 3 _________ cm/sec Trial 4 _________ cm/sec
Analysis 1. What does your data mean if it says the car traveled 10 cm/sec?
