HR SOLUTIONS-POLYSAILS Boat Designs from the 1940's: Treasures from the Past Splinter-The Sailing Toothpick

Splinter was meant to appeal to the sailing competitor. At 20' with only a 3' beam and a 20" x 24" cockpit, crew had to use springboards to balance the 80 sq. ft. mains'l and the 35 sq. ft. jib. A lead bulb on a 3/8" steel dagger board also helped keep Splinter upright. An adjustable mast offered a further aid to help fine tune performance. From the looks of her, Splinter could probably get under the skin of some of some local club racers if she just happened to show up on the course on Sunday..
