31st Annual Holocaust Education Week: Bernie Farber Richmond Hill Public Library is honoured to present:
BERNIE M. FARBER is a son of a Holocaust survivor and a leading expert on human rights and antisemitism. Mr. Farber is also a published author and has contributed numerous articles and commentary on the Jewish political scene, human rights and social justice issues, the Holocaust, hate crime and white supremacy to newspapers and periodicals including The New York Times and The Globe and Mail.
During the Holocaust far too many people turned a blind eye to the suffering of their fellow Jewish citizens. Yet there were courageous people who chose not to remain passive, many of these people were diplomatic officials. Bernie M Farber will explore these courageous individuals by focusing primarily on the work of Chinese diplomat Dr. Fen Shan Ho, Japanese diplomat Senpo Sugihara, and Portuguese diplomat Aristides de Sousa Mendes who issued thousands of travel visas to desperate Jewish refugees. Admission: FREE. Wednesday, November 2, 6:30 - 8:30 PM: Central Library Room A & B, 2nd Floor, 1 Atkinson Street
