CHAPTER 3 METHODOLOGY

Since the topic of the research belongs to Satan, the qualitative method of research was used in this research. Library was brought into use for this purpose. As library does not fulfill the whole requirements of the research, therefore, the inter-net source was used on the purpose of collecting relevant data for this research. Various websites were searched for this purpose. The topic was discussed with honourable advisor Beenish Pervaiz to get pearls of guidance. For further assistance the understudy topic was discussed with other honourable teachers who own tremendous experience in this field of research. The dissertation topic and epic poetry and historical background of Satan were discussed with class fellows because their ideas and interpretations also helped immensely.

Since the qualitative research is generally relatively focused so the dual analysis was employed leaving the scope for further study. Furthermore, the analysis was based upon assumptions and the personal study of the researcher was used for better comprehension.

In the first chapter research problem, objectives, limitation of the research, and structure of the Research were briefly discussed whereas in the second chapter detailed literature review of the research was given. The next chapter, third one, deals with the

analysis of data where data is analyzed discretely. For this purpose, the response from literature books, critics and different thesis and research works have been drawn to pose the purpose of the study. The text was dealt without being biased in order to get maximum results. Then the research problem was analyzed on the basis of the results of this research.

The utmost effort of the researcher was to be as much objective and logical as our human intellect allows in evaluation and interpretation of available data. In this purely philosophical and literary research, critical evaluation and logical interpretation of the text of Paradise Lost and the critical commentary on the text was the sole centre of attention and contemplation.
