    The Wisconsin Chapter of the Congress for the New Urbanism is inviting people to a talk called "Street Design For Living" by Ken Voigt. The talk will discuss how streets are often designed only for cars but could be designed to accommodate people of all ages and abilities, promote healthy living and social interaction, as well as the movement of people and goods. Voigt will also look at innovative street design techniques being used today and how street design may change with new technologies. The talk will be held on November 14, 2011 at 7:30pm in Room 1025 of the Engineering Centers Building at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

    Streets are too often designed for one purpose: moving the maximum number of cars in the shortest possible period of time. But what would streets look like if they accommodated people of all ages and abilities, promoted healthy urban living, social interaction and business, as well as the movement of people and goods and regeneration of the environment? How will the form and function of streets change as we adopt new technologies? Join the Wisconsin Chapter of the Congress for the New Urbanism for a look at innovative street design techniques that are being implemented today, and to look forward at what street design could be in the future.
