CARRIERS ON THE MOVE

Five of the Navys 11 aircraft carriers have recently had maintenance or have plans for maintenance at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. A look at where they are and where theyre headed.

USS ENTERPRISE Now: In Norfolk. Recently returned from deployment to Mediterranean and Arabian seas.

U.S. Navy

2013: Spent fuel to be removed at Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

2018 or 2019: To be towed to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for reactor department disposal.

USS NIMITZ Now: In Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for dry dock overhaul (docking planned incremental availability).

U.S. Navy

2012: Homeport changes to Naval Station Everett.

USS RONALD REAGAN Now: In San Diego. Recently returned from deployment to Asia.

2012: Will head to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for a dry dock overhaul (docking planned incremental availability).

USS JOHN C. STENNIS Now: Deployed, performing missions in Iraq and Afghanistan

Early 2012: Will return to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.

USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN Now: In Everett, working up to a change-of-homeport deployment. Finished a nine-month overhaul at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in January 2010.

Late 2011: Relocates to Norfolk, Va., for a four-year refueling complex overhaul (RCOH) to refurbish the ship for another 25 years of service.
