LESSON PLAN

SCHOOL: VALENI HIGHSCHOOL TEACHER: BADEA CLAUDIA LEVEL: PRE-INTERMIDIATE LESSON: PRESENT SIMPLE AND PRESENT CONTINUOUS TYPE OF LESSON: PLACE: COURSE CLASS TIME: 50 MINUTES

Lesson aims: At the end of the lesson, students will be able to: -recognize the forms of the Present simple and Present continuous -use the tenses correctly in sentences -make the distinction in sentences according to the tenses uses Skills covered: Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing Aids: textbook, notebooks, pencils, blackboard, chalk, pictures Teaching techniques: conversation, explanation, exercise-solving, question-answer. Evaluation: oral Class organization: frontal, individual

1 Warm-up Procedure: Teacher greets the students, checks the attendance and the homework; Makes them relax, motivate them for the lesson. Interaction: T-S Time: 5 minutes 2. Introducing the new lesson Procedure: Teacher announces the title of the new lesson and writes it on the blackboard. Interaction: T-S Time: 1 minute 3. Presentation of the knowledge Procedure: The teacher explains the concept of Present Simple and Present continuous bringing some pictures at class denoting, on one hand, general, habitual actions and, on the other hand, temporary and simultaneous with the moment of speaking actions. Interaction: T-S Time: 10 minutes 4. Practise and production Procedure: The Teacher writes down on the blackboard some sentences on two columns, one column using Present Simple and in the other using Present Continuous and then elicits by asking the students the difference in form viewing the two aspects of Present tense. The students are given some sentences in which to fill the right tense of the verb, and then they have to work individually saying how their daily schedule is and what they do every day. Interaction: T-S, S-T Time: 25 minutes 5 Feed-back: Procedure: The teacher writes down on the blackboard the title of the lesson and asks the students to write it to their notebooks too and then write by drawing arrows from the title as many ideas about the topic as they can. At the end they are asked to tell what the most difficult part of the lesson was and what they want to improve by further study. Interaction: T-S, S-T Time: 5 minutes

6. Setting the homework Procedure: Teacher asks the students to give examples of 5 sentences using Present Simple and other 5 sentences using Present Continuous. Teacher greets them for leaving. Time: 5 minutes
