If you prefer larger windows and fonts on the display, you may change the resolution to 1280 x 800: 1. 2. 3. 4. Click the Start button. Select All Programs\Accessories. Select PwC - Change display resolution. Choose Larger Resolution. 5. Click Finish. TrackPoint and Touch Pad To adjust the TrackPoint and Touch Pad settings use the Keyboard function "FN+F8", then select the Manage Settings. You can select to disable the Touch Pad by selecting the middle option.

Presentation Director Presentation Director helps you plan and give presentations with confidence. You can ensure that your computer and display will not turn off or go blank during a presentation, make sure your graphics and text are crisp and clear, and save important display settings for future presentations with the same equipment. To use Presentation Director: 1. Press Fn-F7 to activate Presentation Director.

Hard Drive Airbag - Active Protection System The airbag-like Active Protection System provides data protection. The hard drive airbag safeguards your data by monitoring your system and temporarily stopping the hard drive to help prevent some hard drive crashes when a fall or similar event is detected. Double-Click the icon to adjust settings. To monitor or adjust Active Protection System: View the system tray icon. The icon is green when Active Protection is in Monitor mode and Yellow when in Protect Mode.

Click desired presentation scheme. Presentation Director adjusts your system to support your presentation. To create additional schemes, press Fn-F7 and select More Settings. The Presentation Director Manager appears, enabling you to adjust or create schemes.

ThinkLight Keyboard Light The ThinkLight keyboard light enables you to work in low-light conditions. Located on the top edge of the display, this tiny LED illuminates your keyboard to let you keep working. To use ThinkLight, press Fn-PgUp to activate or deactivate your keyboard light. ThinkVantage Button ThinkVantage Button will now launch Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Communication Settings Communication settings allow changes to the camera and audio settings. To use Communication settings: 1. Press Fn-F6 4. Or you can disable all wireless devices by using the physical switch located on the right side of the T410, or the left side of the X201. Maximizing Battery Life The maximum battery life at the best power settings is as follows: 6-Cell battery 3.5 hours/5.15 Lbs. (Not available on X201) 9-Cell battery 5 hours/5.56 Lbs. To maximize battery life: 1. Double-click the battery meter in the system tray. eSATA - (T410) The T410 also has an eSATA port. This port can be used to attach an eSATA drive to the notebook. The benefit of eSATA drives is that they are external, portable, hot-swappable, and are equivalent to an internal drive as far as data transfer speeds. US IT security requires all external storage devices with Firm information to be encrypted. For assistance contact your local FS representative. DP - (T410) The T410 has a new video port called DisplayPort (DP). The DP standard is similar to DVI standards currently in use. It also does allow for higher definition content, and higher display resolutions. The benefit to having this additional video port is the ability to attach 2 external LCDs without the use of a docking station. To accomplish this with current LCD standards you will be required to obtain a DP to DVI adapter.

2. For Camera Select "More Camera settings" For Audio select "Audio defaults and settings". Wireless Radios The wireless antenna is built into the display cover for optimal signal reception. The system supports 802.11b, g, n wireless and Bluetooth technologies. Note: Airlines require the wireless radios to be turned off during flight. To power your wireless antenna on and off: 1. Press Fn-F5 to launch the wireless control.

Choose a profile to match your work habits. (You can also create custom Power Schemes to meet your individual needs.)

Additional battery-saving tips: 1. Set your display brightness to the lowest comfortable setting. (Press Fn-Home or Fn-End to adjust brightness.) 2. Choose a profile that sets the CPU speed to Adaptive or Very Slow. 3. Power off the wireless antenna when not in use. 4. Recondition your battery by letting your battery run to less than 3% at least once a month. Reconditioning the battery can restore some of your battery capacity. 5. Protect your battery and your ThinkPad from extreme temperatures, as in a car on a hot or cold day. Battery performance will be temporarily degraded under these conditions. Yellow USB powered port (New) This port is always-on. It remains active when the ThinkPad is in suspend/hibernate to allow charging of Smartphone or other USB powered accessories.
