Hamlet Comic Strip Book Cover Taking the 11 x 17 paper given out in class, you will create a comic strip as a cover for your annotated text according to the following guidelines: Working vertically or horizontally, you will storyboard each Act of the play, creating a square for each scene to make up each strip (therefore, Act I, because it has 4 [IV] scenes, will have four squares or boards within which you will depict the action. (see examples) The comic strip will cover the front and back of your Hamlet book. You may depict the action literally or with symbols (i.e. using a ring to depict a character because she is interested in marriage, using a sword to depict violence, etc.) Color is an important element of the meaning, so use color to support the themes. Your depiction of the play should demonstrate your awareness of the recurrent motifs in the various scenes (i.e. prison imagery, images of rotting and decay, mirrors/spying/secrecy, flowers, actors/acting). The inside covers will consist of important quotations from the play and important motifs from the play (instruction will be given in class). You should include the title and author of the play on your cover somewhere. Be creative! Experiment with themes and ideas and unique ways of depicting the meanings in the play.

You will not be graded on your artistic ability but on your attention to detail. Stick figures are ok as long as your work shows careful attention to detail. Note: Students who want to do a digital or computer generated version should see me/Edmodo for ideas.
