DEFINITION

river transported its load.
Note that transportation
process in coastal areas
are the same as the
transportation process in
the river
Warger particles like boulders and rocks
roll or slide along the river bed by the
strong river flow.
W$maller particles like gravels and stones
are lifted and dropped along the river, so
they bounce along the river bed in a
hopping motion.
Winer particles such as clay, fine sand
and silt are carried along the river without
contact with the river bed.
Wecause the river water is moving, the
fine particles or loads are almost able to
float, and they are suspended in the
moving water.
Wissolved materials containing minerals
like limestone rocks are slowly dissolved
by rainwater and are carried away by the
river.
WThis type of transportation is difficult to
see with the naked eye but they are in the
water.
