Grand Rapids police responded to a report of a shooting and found a woman deceased from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers learned the suspect, who was the victim's ex-husband, may be in her residence. Police surrounded the home and entered after seeing two young children inside. The children were rescued safely while the suspect was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Autopsies revealed the victim died of gunshot wounds while the suspect died of a self-inflicted gunshot to the head. The major case team continues to investigate the murder-suicide.

Upon arrival, officers located a female victim in the roadway, near 716 Oakland. The victim appeared to have been shot several times and was deceased. Officers obtained information that the suspect in the shooting may be located at 650 Oakland, the residence of the victim. The suspect was reportedly the ex-husband of the victim. Officers surrounded the house and attempted to make contact with the suspect, without success. Family members, of the victim, indicated to officers that there may be an infant and a toddler in the house. Officers of the Special Response Team entered the house after observing the toddler walking around inside the house. The toddler and the infant were rescued from the house. Officers located the suspect inside the house deceased. The suspect appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound to the head. The two children in the house were taken to a hospital by family members to be examined. Both children were unharmed during the incident. The victim and suspect were transported to Blodgett Hospital where autopsies were performed. The victim, Amy Diane Cosgrove, female, DOB 7/17/1985, died of several gunshot wounds. According to the Medical Examiner the suspect, Danyiel Jammar Davis, male, DOB 10/24/1980, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head.
