Slope-intercept form of a line y = mx + b Parallel lines have the same slope. Example: Write the slope-intercept form of the line through (1,4) that is parallel to y = 2x -4. Graph both lines.

The slopes of perpendicular lines are negative reciprocals of each other. Example: Write the slope-intercept form of the line through (1,4) that is perpendicular to y = 2x 4. Graph both lines.
