So how did we handle this case? There were 2 stages of treatment for this patient: 1st. A functional appliance (this is an appliance to help the lower jaw to 'grow' forwards into its correct position.) was worn for 2 years. 2nd. Upper and lower fixed appliances (without any teeth extracted) were worn for 9 months, followed by wearing retainers at night for another year.
