Uttar Pradesh often referred to as U.P. or Uttar Pradesh is a state located in the northern part of India.
With a population of over 199 million people, is India's most populous state, as well as the world's most populous sub national entity.

The state's high court is based at Allahabad with a bench in state capital Lucknow.

It is home to many historical cities, including Allahabad,Varanasi, Kanpur, Lucknow, Agra. Kanpur is its largest city; other big cities are Lucknow, Meerut, Agra, Aligarh, Barielly, Ghaziabad, Noida and Gorakhpur. Uttar Pradesh has an important place in the culture of India; it is considered to be the birthplace of Hindusim The culture of UP is a cradle of Indian traditional customs and practices.

The Taj mahotsav is celebrated in February at Agra and has drawn admires from various places. Celebration of KUMBH MELA in Allabhad is a proof of religious practices in UP. Folk dance is proliferated and largely appreciated by people both in country and world wide. Rasiya is famous in the Braj reason, sung generally during the Holi festival.

Ram Lila or the story of Lord Ram is enacted with religious fervor every year on Vijaya Dashami in the whole of Uttar Pradesh especially in Ayodhya.

The Khurchan, Pera, Petha are widely famous among the food lovers through out the nation. Famous dishes Tahri and Nargishi Kofta.
The popular drinks are Lassi and Ruh-afza too are grounded in UP region. Choka bati or Litti Chokha is a typical Banarasi dish, eaten by people who labour in the fields.

The traditional handicraft Chikankari at Lucknow and Varanasi Brocade had occupied the world market. The oldest city of the world Varanasi and also Mathura Vrindawan are abundant in temples.
Quawwali, or the poems of sufis, mostly preached on the graves of sufi saints.
