Who was he?
Abraham (Harold) Maslow (April 1, 1908 –
June 8, 1970) born in Brooklyn, New York
Studied at City College of New York, then he
changed to Cornell and then finally to CCNY
Chairman of the psychological department at
Brandeis
Psychologist all his life until he died in 8th of
June, 1970
Theory
Physiological needs
These needs include:
Oxygen, water, minerals and vitamins,
 PH balance,
Regulation of temperature,
Need of sleep,
Get rid of waste,
Avoid pain and have sex.
The Safety needs
These needs include:
Safe circumstances,
Stability,
Protection,
Also needs for structure, order and limits

Love and Belonging

• Need for friends,
• Work Group
• Children,
• Love and relationship

• Affection
Esteem needs
There are two types of esteems:
Lower esteem,
Higher esteem.
Lower Esteem
• These include

• Attention, reputation, appreciation,
• Dignity
• Even dominance.
Higher esteem
• Self respect,
• Confidence,
• Competence,
• Achievements,
• Mastery,

• Freedom.
