 BIOGRAPHY
• Salvador Dali was a very important painter especially in Figueres because there it has his
museum.
• He was born in Figueres in 1904.
• He studied in school Hispanofrancès de la Immaculada Concepció in Figueres in 1910.
• He studied in the Secondary school of Figueres and received painting classes in school
Municipal of Dibuix of Figueres in 1916.
• He studied in school of Belles Arts and Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in
Madrid in 1920.
• He received his first award Concurs-Exposició d’Obres d’Art Originals d’Estudiants de
l’Associació Catalana d’Estudiants with his work Mercat.
• His friends there were Luis Buñuel, Federico García Lorca, Pedro Garfias, Eugenio Montes
and Pepín Bello.
• He spent his holidays with Camille Goemans,René Magritte, Luis Buñuel, Paul Éluard with
Gala and Cécile.
• He visited Paris in 1929 and he met Picaso.
• In 1922 Salvador Dali went to Madrid to study
• There he experimented with the Cubism style
• He met Gala on holidays in Cadaques.
• He did two films with Buñuel,they were L’edat de oro and El perro Andaluz.
• He took part in the film Spellbound with Alfred Hitchcock.
• He received the Cruz de Isabel la Católica in 1964.
• Film Destino-Walt Disney
• He married with Gala on August 8th 1958 in Girona.
• He was awarded the Gran Cruz de Isabel la Católica in 1964.
He bought Púbol Castle and decorated it for Gala.
He died at Torre Galatea on 23 January 1989.
