    Pisces 21: A little white lamb, a child, and a Chinese servant The word little descends from the Old English lytel meaning “little, few” and ultimately from the Proto-Indo European leud meaning “small.” The word white descends from the Indo-European (IE) root kweit- which means “white, to shine.” Paronyms include wheat, bismuth, edelweiss, whiting (a food fish), and witloof. The word lamb descends from the Pre-Germanic lambaz, as do the Old Norse, Old Frisian and Gothic lamb, and the Middle High German lamp. The word child descends from the Old English cild meaning “child, infant” and more remotely from the Gothic kilpei meaning “womb” and the Danish kuld meaning “children of the same marriage.” The earliest European usage of the word Chinese is in Italian, by Marco Polo. It is believed that this comes from the Qin dynasty which ruled much of what is now modern-day China in the 3rd century BC. The Latinized form of the word is Sina and hence the words China, Chinese, sinologist, etc. The word servant means "to render habitual obedience to" and it descends from the Old French servir (to serve), the Latin servire (to serve, to be a slave) and the Latin servus (slave). THEMES: One of the names of China is “the Middle Kingdom”, thus one way of reading the above symbols is “a little child, a white lamb, and a servant of the Middle Kingdom.” If we choose to read it this way then added to the above are two roots—medhyo-, which means “middle” and gene- which means “to give birth, beget.” The former is the root of ‘middle’, a word whose paronyms include immediate, mid, middle, midst, amid, mean, medal, median, medium, the prefix meso-, and the name Milan. The latter is the root of ‘kingdom’, a word whose paronyms include gender, gene, genteel, generic, genesis, general, generous, genotype, genealogy, genocide, genuine, genus, genius, malign, native, nation, natal, nature, progenitor, and progeny among many others. Taken together the most obvious theme here is religious in nature and suggested in the above photo—the birth and NATIVITY of a child-king, perhaps born amidst the little people of a kingdom, who looks after lambs (literally or figuratively), who is a genteel servant of the nation or king, and who is clothed in white as a symbol of his purity.
