The chorus has one main part which is repeated once, it emphasises that the child should control what theyre doing so that they dont pay the consequences, and so that they only take what they need. The third line does not have much connection with the rest of the lyrics.

The second verse I believe is to be about a childs life, starting off with labour and birth, leading to the child growing up and forgetting past memories, and then to the child moving out, and the parents finding it much harder than they thought.

The final chorus is repeated twice, and is ended by making the last word be sung for longer than normal, to give a fading out effect.
