Expanded Security Checkpoint A Reopens in Time for the Busiest Travel Day of the Year
Cleveland, November 15, 2011 Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) will reopen expanded Security Checkpoint A on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, in time for the busy Thanksgiving Holiday travel period and at more capacity. Checkpoint A will now accommodate approximately 360 passengers per hour, more than doubling capacity into Concourse A. Security will also improve. This expansion will provide three entry portals into the checkpoint pursuant to the addition of a new x-ray machine and additional Transportation Security Administration resources. Optimizing the travelers experience and ensuring passengers get to their gates in time is of our utmost concern, especially near the height of the travel season, says Airport Director Ricky Smith. The newly expanded Security Checkpoint A will ease wait lines for passengers, especially during daily peak travel times from 5am to 7am and then again from 5pm to 7pm. The busiest travel day of the year is the day before Thanksgiving. Concourse A primarily services American Eagle, U. S. Airways, USA3000 and international flights. The expansion was a result of CLE security staff and representatives of the TSA analyzing the best way to harmonize security into the customers travel experience. -30-
