April Olorunfemi FRIT 7230 Digital Video Project Description of the intended audience: The targeted audiences for

this video are 6th and 7th grade middle grades students. This video is also for reading teachers to use as a tool to encourage an initial interest in the execution of consistent reading habits. The middle level Reading, Language Arts and English Language Learner student would gain a vivid and meaningful background in the many ways books are used to enhance. The purpose of targeted these students and their teacher facilitators in order to build a strong and firm foundation for reading, to promote literacy and to cultivate student interest for the purpose of gaining and sharing real world experiences in a safe and supportive environment. This video could also serve as a parent outreach resource to those students in order to build stronger learning communities. Instructional objectives: This video acts as a resource to demonstrate the value that a love of reading can have on ones life and experiences. The use of characters, costumes, props and conversational language allows students to perceive how literacy is more than an academic quality. The objective was to engagingly demonstrate the personal and relative value that can enhance everyday interactions. There were also social undertones presented in the form of promoting awareness and tolerance of all learners. The use of personal narratives promoted intellectual freedom. This intellectual freedom was demonstrated with gender, age and ethnic diversities. Using adults helped students to gain a slice of life that they may be able to think about how reading can benefit their futures and overall lives.

Instructional strategy or learning theory use: The instructional strategy here was teacher modeling. The band teacher playing along with students, the media specialist and teachers in character helped to see those individuals most impactful in their

lives in positions of equality. Students were able to see, here and think about their personal interests and reasons for reading and sharing information. At the same time , students were also able to see how these teacher were individuals with their own interests.
