Extra High Tension Transformer

• It is also called live cut transformer or fly back transformer.

• It is used in T.V receivers.

• It supplies the voltage essential for the picture tube of a T.V

set.

• For portable B/W sets this voltage is around 10K V.

• In large B/W sets it can go from 16.5K V to 18K V.

• It can be as high as 25K V in coluor T.V sets.

Constructional Features of E.H.T Transformer

• It consist of a set of independent coils wound over a

ferrite core.

• Some units are fabricated like Auto transformer.

• Other transformers have the E.H.T winding as a

secondary coil.

R.F Shielding

• R.F chokes and transformers are required to encase in a

metal cover of either copper or aluminum to provide a
shielding against the varying flux of R.F currents.

• The shielding cover not only isolates the coil from

external varying magnetic flied but also minimizes the
effect of the coils R.F currents on external circuits.
