have decided to work with the horror genre. This style of film is popular throughout the
world purely because it gives people thrills and adrenaline rushes similar to being on a
roller coaster ride. Horrors are widely viewed because of the hunger for intense
emotions and the desire for excitement. Another main reason for viewing horror films is
to overcome their fear of them or to just set a target of attempting to sit through a whole
horror movie to get a sense of pride when the film has finished. The horror consists of
many different sub genres, one of them being Gothic horror, which was generally the
birth of horror. This sub-genre is a mode of literature that contains aspects of romance
as well as strong factors of pure horror and was usually written throughout the 18
th
and
19
th
century. Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Robert Louis Stevenson's Dr Jekyll and Mr
Hyde and Oscar Wilde's the Picture of Dorian Grey being prime examples.
Psychological horror is also another sub-genre that is mainly effective due to
Character's fears, guilt, beliefs and eerie sound effects. They are generally intended to
create emotional instability and are becoming the top horror film contender in this day
and age. Examples of this sub-genre being paranormal activity, the grudge and the
Blair witch project. am aiming to style my film around this psychological sub genre to
scare the audience as much as possible as psychological horror is the most popular
style in the modern society.
