Experiment no:4 POWER FACTOR INPROVEMENT (PFI) BY PARALEL CAPACTOR

Submitted by Madhu Gupta 2010-3-50-001

Experiment name: Power factor improvement by parallel capacitor. Objective: The aim of this experiment is to provide more understanding of practical implementation of parallel capacitor bank in improving power factor of an inductive load. Circuit Diagram:

Equipment: a. Signal generator b. Oscilloscope c. Resistors d. Inductor box e. Capacitor box f. Wires and chords Procedure: a. Set the signal generator sine wav signal to Vm=5V and f=1KHz. To supply this kind of voltage we use oscilloscope. b. Then we have connected the circuit as like as fig.1 c. Connect the channel-1 and channel-2 of the oscilloscope as shown in fig 1. Do not misplace the RED and BLACK chords of the oscilloscope. They must be connected as shown in the circuit. Also the R chord of channel 01 should be connected to the R chord of signal generator. d. Now sequentially change the capacitance value and measure the phasede3s difference of the following different values of c Data table and calculation:
