CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Your consult has been pulled for refractive surgery at NHJAX Ophthalmology Clinic. The first step is to schedule a group teaching, which takes approximately 2 hours and goes over alternatives, risks and benefits of refractive surgery, the differences between PRK and LASIK (both offered here) and what to expect before, during and after surgery. Once the group teaching has been completed, we will schedule a screening (in which you must bring your medical record with you) to make sure that you are a good candidate for surgery. This is a 2 hour, dilated exam.

In order to complete the screening, you must:

1) Have been out of contacts for at least 21 days / 30 for Air Force members. 2) Bring your medical record with you to the screening appointment. 3) You must have 12 months of active duty left from the date of surgery for USN, USCG, USMC, 18 for USA, 6 for USAF. 4) We cannot do your screening if you are pregnant or nursing. You must wait until you are six months post-partum or six months postnursing in order to complete your screening. 5) If you have taken Accutane, other prescription migraine medications, or certain heart medications, this may delay your screening. Please call me at (904) 542-7680 ext. 248 to schedule your group teaching and screening. If you cant make your appointment, please give us 24 hour notice. No shows may experience substantial delays in scheduling. Out of towners: If your vehicle does not have a decal, please leave early as you will have to stop by the base Pass / ID office to get a visitors pass. Navy Lodge: (904)772-6000 Gateway Inn/Suites (904)542-3138.
