Why We Dont Prepare for Disaster

Hurricane Katrina of the 2005 was a powerful Atlantic hurricane. It is the costliest natural disaster, as well as one of the five deadliest hurricanes, in the history of the United States.

The picture was really horrible. By 11:00 p.m. on August 29, bodies floating on the water throughout New Orleans. All around there was not clean water or electricity in the city, and some hotels and hospitals reported that there were lacks of diesel fuel. The local television stations were cut off. Many telephones and Internet access were not working because of line breaks.
Hurricane Katrina formed over the Bahamas on August 25. The most significant number of deaths occurred in New Orleans. From that moment most of the city and large tracts of neighborhoods became flooded, and the floodwaters stayed there for weeks. However, there were a lot of physical damages, at the same time we have

desolated bridges, broken cars, buildings, roadways and canals. Meanwhile, transport links were destroyed so for the Coast Guards were really hard to get emergency aid to those who need it. Finally on August 30, people were completely evacuated to safe place, where they got medical help. After the flood the local authorities indicted a plan for improving the precautions against similar disasters for the future. In the first place they decided to hire clean-up workers with special uniforms. A second factor for Coastal flooding was to be build a high technique sea walls and barriers. Thirdly, all the buildings and other infrastructures were rebuilded again. But, the best of all was that all people who suffered from the cyclone were well-provided. I will tell you only that from a reliable source our newspaper knows that one of the worst damages in that countrys history coasted $100 billion to the USA.
