Causing hurt to a person is a heinous crime in Islamic law. It is a bodily harm which is less than death. According to the principles of equality in accordance with the injunctions of islam, the principal punishment is qisas , If qisas is not possible then there is liability for arsh or daman and also tazir punishment.

According to Imam Abu Hanifa and Imam Malik;

QISAS;
Punishment by causing similar hurt at the same part of the body of the offender as he has caused to the victim.

ARSH or DAMAN;
Fixed compensation is called arsh while unfixed compensation is called daman.

TAZIR;
It is the imprisonment of either description up to fourteen years.

Adult and sane person can pardon With or without compensation Can compound it by anything agreed upon by the parties

In case of MINOR or INSANE, the GUARDIAN shall have the right of qisas and its pardoning or compounding.
