The Apostles traveled teaching and healing in Jesus name. According to Mark 6:13, They anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.

ANOINTING OF THE SICK, A SACRAMENT OF HEALING

JESUS GAVE HIS CHURCH THE WORK OF BRINGING GODS HEALING POWER TO THE SICK, THE ELDERLY AND THE DYING.

By the power of the Holy Spirit, the Church carries on this mission of healing in the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.

This sacrament is a powerful and effective sign of Jesus presence that brings strength and healing of the elderly, the sick and the dying.

Who should receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick?

Renews their trust and faith in God. Unites them to Christ and to His suffering. Prepares them, when necessary, for death and the hope of his life forever with God.

Christ strengthens the dying so they can accept death and not fear it. brings peace and Gods forgiving love. may also restore them to health.

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE SACRAMENT:

For us to be able to realize the grace of faith to see the meaning of ones suffering. A sick person can do this, when he recognizes that He is also sharing in the suffering of Christ and His work of redemption.
