    Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) merges the advantages of SMS/EMS and internet email by allowing users to send multimedia messages including text, images, audio, and video between mobile devices. MMS uses existing cellular networks and provides a standardized service across operators. It functions by having a user submit a multimedia message to their home MMS relay server, which then forwards the message over IP to the recipient's relay server. The recipient's server then notifies their user agent of the new message.
