WHIITE BALANCE IIN CAMERAS WH TE BALANCE N CAMERAS Some pictures taken with a camera comes with a bluish or orange

e tint. This is because light has a colour temperature. Different light sources emit light at different colour temperatures. A low colour temperature shifts light towards red and a high colour temperature shifts light toward blue. In the traditional world of films they used filters , eg orange filter to absorb orange light and thus correct for the imbalance. These use of filters leads to a shift in colour temperature. The cameras we use for CCTV overcome this problem by a concept called as white balance. Here the image sensor is taking care of balancing the colour temperature. For manually setting the white balance we have to focus the camera on a white object or white area and press the white balance button. There are some cameras which come with a preset white balance such as Tungsten, Flourescent , cloudy ,sunny etc. Using preset White balance we can improve upon the pictures taken especially in indoors. Some cameras come with Auto White Balance (AWB) . These cameras set the white balance automatically.
