Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

ِ‫بِسْمِ الِ الرّحْمنِ الرّحِيم‬

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

 Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

ِ‫شيَة‬
ِ ‫هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَا‬
[88:1] Has not there come to you the news of the
overwhelming calamity?
 Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

ٌ‫شعَة‬
ِ ‫وُجُوهٌ َيوْمَئِذٍ خَا‬

[88:2] (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast,

Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

ٌ‫عَا ِملَةٌ نّاصِبَة‬

[88:3] Laboring, toiling,

Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

ً‫صلَى نَارًا حَامِيَة‬

ْ ‫َت‬

[88:4] Entering into burning fire,

Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

ٍ‫عيْنٍ آنِيَة‬
َ ْ‫تُسْقَى مِن‬

[88:5] Made to drink from a boiling spring.

Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

ٍ‫ل مِن ضَرِيع‬

ّ ِ‫طعَا ٌم إ‬
َ ْ‫لّيْسَ َلهُم‬

[88:6] They shall have no food but of thorns,

 Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

ٍ‫سمِنُ وَلَ ُيغْنِي مِن جُوع‬

ْ ُ‫لَ ي‬

[88:7] Which will neither fatten nor avail against

hunger.
 Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

ٌ‫وُجُو ٌه يَ ْومَئِذٍ نّاعِمَة‬

[88:8] (Other) faces on that day shall be happy,

Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

ٌ‫سعْ ِيهَا رَاضِيَة‬

َ ِ‫ل‬

[88:9] Well-pleased because of their striving,

Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

ٍ‫جنّةٍ عَاِليَة‬
َ ‫فِي‬

[88:10] In a lofty garden,

Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

ً‫غيَة‬
ِ َ‫سمَعُ فِيهَا ل‬
ْ َ‫ل ت‬
ّ

[88:11] Wherein you shall not hear vain talk.

Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

ٌ‫فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَا ِريَة‬

[88:12] Therein is a fountain flowing,

Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

ٌ‫فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مّ ْرفُوعَة‬

[88:13] Therein are thrones raised high,

Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

ٌ‫ب مّ ْوضُوعَة‬
ٌ ‫وَأَ ْكوَا‬

[88:14] And drinking-cups ready placed,

Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

ٌ‫ق َمصْفُوفَة‬
ُ ِ‫وَ َنمَار‬

[88:15] And cushions set in a row,

Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

ٌ‫ي مَبْثُوثَة‬
ّ ‫وَزَرَا ِب‬

[88:16] And carpets spread out.

 Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

ْ‫خلِ َقت‬
ُ َ‫لْبِلِ َكيْف‬
ِ ‫أَفَلَ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ا‬

[88:17] Will they not then consider the camels, how

they are created?
Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

ْ‫سمَاء َكيْفَ رُ ِف َعت‬

ّ ‫وَِإلَى ال‬

[88:18] And the heaven, how it is reared aloft,

 Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

ْ‫ل كَيْفَ نُصِ َبت‬

ِ ‫وَإِلَى الْجِبَا‬

[88:19] And the mountains, how they are firmly

fixed,
Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

ْ‫حت‬
َ ِ‫وَِإلَى الَْ ْرضِ كَيْفَ سُط‬

[88:20] And the earth, how it is made a vast

expanse?
Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

ٌ‫ت مُذَكّر‬
َ ‫فَذَكّرْ إِ ّنمَا أَن‬

[88:21] Therefore do remind, for you are only a

reminder.
Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

ٍ‫ستَ عََليْهِم بِمُصَيْطِر‬

ْ ّ‫ل‬

[88:22] You are not a watcher over them;

 Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

َ‫إِلّ مَن َتوَلّى وَكَفَر‬

[88:23] But whoever turns back and disbelieves,

 Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

َ‫لْكْبَر‬
َ ‫َفيُعَ ّذبُهُ الُّ الْعَذَابَ ا‬

[88:24] Allah will chastise him with the greatest

chastisement.
Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

ْ‫إِنّ ِإلَيْنَا إِيَابَهُم‬

[88:25] Surely to Us is their turning back,

 Surah al-Ghashiya (The Overwhelming)

ْ‫ثُمّ إِنّ عََليْنَا حِسَا َبهُم‬

[88:26] Then surely upon Us is the taking of their

account.
