SODIUM HYDROXIDE 1.Physical Data:
Melting point : 318.4 c Boiling Point :1390 c

2.Toxicity :
Corrosive ,burning sensation ,cough ,labored brething , shortness of breath, skin burn , blurred vision.

3.Health Effect :
Caustic at site of contact whether by inhalation ,ingestion or skin contact . severe exposure may result in pulmonary edema .

4.First Aid Procedures :


Inhalation : fresh air ,artificial respiration Skin and Eye : rinse skin with plenty of water

5.Chemical Reactivity
Incompatible with water ,acids ,flammableliquids , organic halogens .It reacts violently with acid ,attack some form of plastic ,rubber or coatigs .

6.Safe storage :
Air tight plastic container, container should be labeled to indicate the potential danger of the component and store away from heat and moisture.

7.Safe Disposal :
Small amount of dilute sodium hydroxide flushed down a sink with a large quantity of water .

9.Spill clean up procedures :


Use protective clothing and carefully apply neutralization powder or liquid to the spill. Give time to neutralize, and then apply liquid absorbent pellets .
