Sailing the Caribbean Sea at Night

Darkness sits upon The Caribbean Sea, A deep black broken only By the white foam of the waves. Slowly stars begin to stir Out of the darkness, Little points of light, Imperceptible at first, Now shining in every direction. A pale yellow moon glows, Backlighting grey clouds Keeping vigil over the water. The moons light makes a path Over the waves which stretches To the horizon, visible Beneath the night sky. The wind from the east Is warm and brisk, whipping Across the deck. The bow churns the water And waves splash against the ship. Everywhere there is The silence of the sea.
