Snowmobile Driving
December 29, 2011 (Iqaluit, Nunavut) Winter is here and the City of Iqaluit would like to remind all drivers to use caution and follow safe driving practices when operating a snowmobile machine this winter. Please make sure to drive according to the weather conditions and keep a safe distance from other vehicles or pedestrians. As per Bylaw 557 and the All-Terrain Vehicle Act all snowmobiles must be registered with the City of Iqaluit at the Municipal Enforcement office, building 2425 with a fee of $25. Owners looking to register their snowmobile will require proof of insurance and ownership. Proof of ownership shall be previous registration or a bill of sale. A person shall not operate, ride as a passenger, or be towed in a qamutik behind a snowmobile unless wearing a helmet that is properly fastened and complies with the All-Terrain Vehicle Act. Lets make sure that we all do our part in keeping our community and its people safe.
