Military Volunteer Program

Sunrise Senior Living Center: Volunteer to spend time with the residents of an assisted living community for seniors! Volunteers facilitate games such as Bingo, cards, etc. and spend time visiting with residents one on one. (THURSDAY, 5 JANUARY and WEDNESDAY, 25 JAN) (10 VOLUNTEERS MAX) Crime Victims Oak Garden: The Oak Garden is a memorial to victims of violent crime in San Diego. Volunteer to help maintain memorials and other projects in the garden. FREE lunch and water will be provided. (SATURDAY, 7 JAN 0900-1200) (20 VOLUNTEERS MAX) Homework Helpers: Tutor local students of all ages in a variety of subjects. Help children with their homework-volunteers are paired with children based on subject interest and knowledge. (TUESDAY, 10, 17, 24, and 31 JAN 1800-2000) (15 VOLUNTEERS MAX) Feeding America San Diego: We will be sorting and stocking the Feeding America San Diego warehouse to make sure our local San Diegans in need are fed. Help sort and package food for distribution to food banks throughout San Diego. Kids are welcome ages 6 and up. (WEDNESDAY, 18 JAN 1800-2000) (20 VOLUNTEERS MAX) Ocean Beach Coastal Planting Event: We will be partnering with the San Diego River Park Foundation for a unique event in Ocean Beach. Volunteers are needed to assist with the planting of native plants and plant rescue. Come prepared to work and to get to your hands dirty! All supplies will be provided. (SATURDAY, 28 JAN 0900-1200) (40 VOLUNTEERS MAX) Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve: Come help us work in the canyon through various projects and maintenance. Projects include building fences, painting, planting trees, and constructing trails. FREE pizza lunch will be provided! (SATURDAY, 21 JAN 0900-1300) (25 VOLUNTEERS MAX)
