In case of long pipework, this should be fabricated from the next bore upwards. The feed line should be
kept as short as possible, and should be completely free of kinks and with as few bends as possible.
Between the termini point of the rigid pipework and the starter inlet, a flexible hose of at least 300 mm
length is to be used. Before connecting the feed line to the starter, blow compressed air through
tine. 4
It is essential that the feed air is absolutely dry and clean.

If possible, fit the starter to the engine by means of front flange. If the starter must be fitted inevitably
by means of a cyclindrical cradle, ensure that it fits perfectly. The cradle can be seinforced by a ring
clamp, if needed.
Make provisions for a correct play and clearance between the driving pinion and the engine ring gear.

Connect control instruments as per installation scheme (see Pags. 27-28). Fit the push-button valve V at
a maximum distance of 5 metres from the starter and use flexible pipe of 2,5 mm inner diameter for
connection. If the control pipe has to be longer, fit a solenoid valve near the starter and connect same
with an electrical remote control valve.
In installations comprising automatic starting and engine contro! equipment, the push-button valve V
can be replaced by a solenoid valve.

Before putting into operation:
-Check if the installation has been acomplished in accordance with our instructions.
-Check the adjustment of the auto-start device (if installed), to ensure:
- the speed of the starter shaft never exceeds the vatue of 4000 r/min (for type A17), 3500 r/min|
(for type A27), 2500 r/min (for type Ad7).

-Check for correct meshing of driving pinion with the flywheel gear ring by means of several short

On putting into operation:
-The starter incorporates a torque interruption device when the engine starts (when the wheelcrown
tangential speed overcomes the driving pinion).

- Strip the starter and clean all lines and pipework.
~ Check rotors and advance mechanism; clean same and replace worn or rusted parts.
- Check the driving pinion for wear and replace it if necessary.
- Revise all valves and replace joints.
When leaving our works, the starters contain antirust oil to protect their inner parts. in spite of this, we
